Product Overview
Class 4 steam indicator strips are placed inside each pack, tray or container to confirm that the sterilant reached the contents. The indicator ink monitors all critical steam sterilization parameters — steam, time and temperature — and changes from yellow to black when the stated values are achieved.
The strip guards against incomplete steam penetration, the presence of non-condensable gases or excess air, and inadequate temperature or exposure time. A pre-printed reference colour allows rapid, unambiguous interpretation, and the indicator dot at the distal end permits a secure sterile presentation.

- Yellow → black
- Reference colour printed
- Non-bleeding ink
- Pack control
How to use
- Place one strip inside each pack, in the area most difficult for steam to reach (usually the centre).
- Sterilize at 121 °C for 20 minutes or 134 °C for 4 minutes.
- At the point of use, open the pack and compare the strip with the printed reference colour. Do not use the contents if the colour change is incomplete.
Applications
Hospital CSSDs, surgical instrument packs, dental clinics, veterinary hospitals, biological laboratories and mushroom / substrate sterilization.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where should the strip be placed inside the pack?
In the geometric centre of the pack or in the location hardest for steam to reach, such as the middle of a folded linen pack or the bottom of a dense instrument tray.
What is the difference between a Type 4 and a Type 5 indicator?
A Type 4 indicator reacts to two or more critical variables. A Type 5 integrating indicator reacts to all critical variables and its performance is correlated to a biological indicator, making it the most demanding chemical indicator for pack control.
