Chemical indicator tapes and indicator strips (Type 1, Type 4, Type 5 and Type 6) for steam, ethylene oxide (EO), hydrogen peroxide plasma and formaldehyde sterilization — giving CSSD and clinic staff clear, irreversible visual confirmation that packs have been exposed to the process.

Kangde Med sterilization monitoring products are manufactured under ISO 13485 and designed to the performance requirements of ISO 11140-1. The range covers process indicator tapes (Type 1) for the outside of packs, and internal indicator strips (Type 4 multi-variable, Type 5 integrating and Type 6 emulating) that respond to the critical variables of the cycle — time, temperature and sterilant.

Indicator tape is a Type 1 process indicator applied to the outside of a pack: it shows that the pack went through the sterilizer and distinguishes processed from unprocessed items. Indicator strips are placed inside the pack and respond to more than one critical variable (Type 4), or integrate time and temperature to correlate with a biological indicator (Type 5), or emulate a specific cycle (Type 6). Most facilities use both: tape outside, strip inside every pack.
For routine pack monitoring most CSSDs use a Type 4 or Type 5 indicator. Type 5 integrating indicators are the most demanding chemical indicator and are widely used for pack control and for releasing implant loads together with a biological indicator. Type 6 emulating indicators are used when you want to confirm a specific cycle (for example 134 °C / 3.5 min).
